SWGC Bursary Applications Now Open for 2025/2026:

The online application window for the academic year 2025/2026 is underway at the South West Gauteng Tvet College. All qualified applicants are invited, both South African nationals and international applicants to apply for a technical and vocational program that is aligned to their career path.

SWGC is one of the fifty(50) public Tvet colleges that are registered and opperates under the authority of the Department of Higher Education and  Training (DHET). In other to give all students the equal right to study without any financial difficulty, the college has made it possible for its students to apply for a bursary fund to support them via a government scheme called Nsfas.

If you wish to study or are already studying SWGC and come from a family with an income of R350 000 or less, then you are qualified to apply for a bursary from Nsfas. NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public TVET colleges.

SWGC Bursaries Application Date 2025 /2026

If you are a student of SWGC and want to study on the Nsfas Bursary for the 2025/2026 academic year, you should submit your application by the below-given date:

• The SWGC Bursary online applications for the 2025/2026 academic year will be open on September 28th 2024
• The SWGC online application for Bursary in the 2025/2026 study year will be closing on the 31st of January 2025.

Who Qualifies For SWGC Bursaries Application 2025 /2026

Below are those who qualify for Nsfas bursaries at SWGC for 2025:

• All South African citizens
• All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
• Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
• A person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
• Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

Which Students Of SWGC Are Not Eligible For SWGC Bursaries Application 2025 /2026

If you fall among the below category, you are not qualified for Nsfas bursary at SWGC:

• Students who have completed a previous qualification.
• Students with a combined household income of more than R350 000 per annum.
• Students who have already applied, qualified and received funding. They are automatically funded for the
• duration of their studies provided they pass their modules and meet the academic requirements.

Documents Needed To Apply SWGC Bursary

To apply for the bursary you will need to have certified and scanned copies of the following documents:

• Identity Document/Birth Certificate
• Latest Academic Results
• Proof of parents’ income (If parent/s employed)
• Death Certificate/s (If parent/s deceased)
• Doctor’s Certificate (If permanently disabled)

How Much Is Given To SWGC Students From The Nsfas Bursary

The following is the amount given to SWGC students from Nsfas:

• Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
• Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
• Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
• Transport R7000 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

To apply for a bursary at SWGC, you will need to follow the below process:

• Create a myNsfas account via : https//my.nsfas.org.za or download the Nsfas App on google play store.
• Input your ID number which also represents your username
• Click on Apply to update your personal information
• Upload the application’s supporting documents
• Submit your application
