South West Gauteng College is a public college offering technical and vocational education. It is run by the Department of Higher Education and Training and follows the rules of the Continuing Education and Training Act. The college is approved by Umalusi and various Sector Education and Training Authorities to provide education and training, mostly for NQF Level 2 to 4. Some courses are also available for higher education levels, N4 to N6. With over 30,000 students, it is one of the largest colleges in the country.

SWGC’s main office is at Molapo Campus in Soweto, and it has campuses in Soweto (3), Roodepoort (2), and Randburg (1). It also includes the “LAND IS WEALTH FARM” in Sterkfontein. The college serves a wide community area, providing education and training. The college also offers distance learning and e-learning through the Technisa Campus in Randburg, making education accessible everywhere.

Since 2007, the college has offered a three-year TVET curriculum, leading to the National Certificate (Vocational) [NC (V)]. This qualification allows students to either enter the job market or pursue further education. The first group of NC (V) graduates completed their studies in 2009 and were well-received by employers.

The graduation ceremony for SWGC for the academic year 2025-2026 will be held on the following dates:

• SWGC  2025 Graduation Date For NCV Students: Students who studied NVC courses have their graduation for the academic year 2025 on the 7th of June
• SWGC 2025 Graduation Date For Nated Students: Students who studied NVC courses have their graduation for the academic year 2025 on the 7th of June

SWGC Graduation Venue

• The 2025-2026 academic year graduation ceremony will be held at NASREC, on 7 and 14 June 2024.
