Essential Requirements For Applying For the NSFAS
Before proceeding with your NSFAS funding application, it’s important to ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements:
- South African Citizenship: Applicants must be either South African citizens or permanent residents.
- Financial Need: Household income should fall below a specified threshold, usually R350,000 per annum (or R600,000 for individuals with disabilities).
- Academic Performance: Returning students are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress as per BC’s guidelines and NSFAS regulations.
- Course Registration: Eligible programs for funding include PLP (Professional Learning Programme), NC(V) (National Certificate Vocational), or Report 191 courses offered by BC, which are generally approved by NSFAS.
How to Apply For NSFAS At BCC
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za and click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
- Create a myNSFAS account
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
- Upload required supporting documents where applicable
- An OTP will be sent to the email and phone number you provided ( the OTP will expire within 24hrs)
- Type in the OTP and click on SUBMIT
- Your Nsfas application has been completed
Who Should Not Apply For NSFAS?
Below are the students who are not eligible to apply for NSFAS at BCC:
- Students who have completed a previous qualification.
- Students with a combined household income of more than R350 000 per annum.
- Students who have already applied, qualified and received funding. They are automatically funded for the duration of their studies provided they pass their modules and meet the academic requirements
